Just really want to start a debate about the stories that the British intelligence service bugged Kofi Annan.

Did Blair go too far this time?

Is it acceptable to bug the phone calls of the UN secretary general?

Debate away.

Tapping phones has been going on for many years now, even before I was born (early 80's)

So firstly, dont assume he's the only one who's done it :p

Secondly, in English Law, there is no proper thing as a right to privacy.. There's a couple of points in the European convention, but thats about it.

So, my opinion is, its probably not *illegal* as such, cos he had his reasons I'm sure. Morally, its not good for him. Society don't like to think people in power can just listen in on phone calls. Well, i certainly fucking dont when im having phone sex with my gf *ahem*

i would definately say it was unacceptable behaviour.

what disturbs me more, however, is the reason why they were doing it.

they had doubts as to whether the war was legal or not under international law, and they wanted to know what Kofi Annan was saying about them, so they knew whether they would be safe if they just did it anyway.

thats just plain wrong.

not just coffi but a bunch of un guys from the nations who were against the war too!

and there is no law saying its ok thats why people try and shoot james bond =)

what blair needs to do is come out and say "we were wrong to remove saddam in the way that we did" etc rather than trying to cover it all up cos it`s making him look like a cock, every other week someone comes out with another piece of evidence that makes him look like either a meglomaniac or a puppet to foreign governments (usa).

there are none and never were WMD in iraq,

toppling a government for political gain (such as in iraq) is almost the dictionary definition of terrorism.

he is a bellend who is going to lead this country into the hands of the tory party at the next election (as long as mr howard doesn`t fuk it up)

TONY SORT OUT YOUR SHIT!
